Workforce Planning

The BRS are assisting in the development of the content of the renal section of the Skills for Health workforce planning website. There is a joint project between the Department of Health and Skills for Health to look at the workforce planning issues within renal services.

The BRS is undertaking a wider renal workforce planning exercise which looks to incorporate this project together with a description of the current position of the renal workforce in relation to planned projections, and a description of the core competencies, skill sets and workforce required to deliver patient-centred renal services for the future.

One key element of these projects is to highlight innovative staffing solutions, new ways of working and skill mix across the multidisciplinary teams. In order to be effective and share best practice the project requires content from the service to populate the web pages. We are looking for outlines of changes which have been made to the service, changes made to staffing structures to meet local needs and especially staffing structures that cross organisational or professional boundaries.

We are also interested in new job roles or job descriptions that have been developed to support new ways of working.

So that you can see the resources we are looking for and the structure of the renal section of the website a development version of the website is available at: http://www.healthcareworkforce.nhs.uk/redux/index.php?option=com_d4j_ezine&Itemid=1120
